The short version: your bank statement never leaves your device. The scan runs entirely inside your web browser. We never upload, store or see your statement or your transactions.

Your bank statements

When you add a PDF or CSV statement, your browser reads it and runs the scan on your own phone or computer. The file and its transactions are not sent to us or to anyone else. When you close or refresh the page, they're gone. The page is locked down so it can only talk to oweful.com and the PDF reader it loads, which means it has no way to send your statement elsewhere.

What we collect

Only what you choose to give us. If you join the waitlist, unlock, or ask us to email your results, we receive:

your email address
which option you chose (for example "unlock" or "do it for me")
your scan's headline total and how many finds it had (just those two numbers, never the transactions themselves)

We use this only to contact you about Oweful. We don't sell or rent it, and we don't use it for advertising.

Cookies and tracking

Oweful doesn't use analytics, advertising trackers or tracking cookies. If you enter a promo code, your browser remembers it in its own local storage so you don't have to enter it again. That stays on your device. If you arrive through one of our campaign links (such as oweful.com/ig), your browser also remembers which one, and if you buy an unlock we record that link with the payment so we know which posts are working.

Services we rely on

Netlify hosts the site and stores waitlist sign-ups.
Stripe handles payments for the $10 unlock. Your card details go straight to Stripe; we never see them. Stripe gives us your email and the payment status so we can send a receipt and unlock your scan.
Cloudflare (cdnjs) serves the PDF reader. We check the exact file before it runs.
Google Fonts serves the site's fonts.

Like any website, these services see your IP address when your browser loads files from them. Some of them store data outside Australia.

Your choices

You can ask us to see, correct or delete anything we hold about you. Email hello@oweful.com and we'll act on it.
